The workshop, organized by the Center for History and Economics and the Project on Justice, Welfare and Economics, explored recent work on Haiti/Saint-Domingue in the long history of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The event will took place on May 3 2010, from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm in the Public Gathering Room CGIS-S030, 1730 Cambridge Street.
Speakers included will Michel DeGraff (MIT), Nancy Dorsinville (Clinton Global Initiative), Julia Gaffield (Duke University), Malick Ghachem (University of Maine), Walter Johnson (Harvard University), Martha Jones (University of Michigan), Emma Rothschild (Harvard University), Edward Rugemer (Yale University), Rebecca Scott (University of Michigan), David Todd (University of Cambridge), and Edward Widmer (Brown University).

The Archives Nationales d'Haiti, the first national archives to be established in the Americas, will celebrate its 150th anniversary on August 20 2010. Efforts are being made across the international community to ensure records and archives are preserved and libraries are reopened:
