Anne Ruderman is a historian of Early Modern Europe and the Atlantic World. Her dissertation looks at how European slave-ship outfitters met African consumer demand for European products during the era of the transatlantic slave trade. Ruderman received a M.Phil. from Yale University in 2012 and is expected to receive a Ph.D. in May 2016. She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in 2001, where she was elected to phi beta kappa. Prior to graduate school she was a staff reporter for the International Herald Tribune's Italy Daily in Milan.

Her dissertation research has been supported by the Economic History Association, the John Carter Brown Library, the Beinecke Library, the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, the Gilder Lehrman Center, the Program in Economic History at Yale, the Yale Program for the Study of Antisemitism, the MacMillan Center at Yale, the History Project and the American Historical Association. In Spring 2013, she was a visiting faculty member at Sciences Po in Paris, where she taught the course "Slavery, Resistance and Abolition in an International Perspective".
