Deivy Houeix

deivyhoueix@fas.harvard.edu

Deivy Houeix is a development economist studying how digital technologies reshape firm behavior, trade relationships, and economic growth in lower income countries, particularly in West Africa - and why these technologies are sometimes not adopted. His research combines field experiments, network analysis, and economic theory to examine the role of information frictions, relational contracts, and digital payments in shaping market dynamics. A central focus of his work is how platforms and mobile money tools affect trust, observability, and coordination among small firms. He has conducted research in Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Togo.

Deivy received his Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in 2025, an M.Res. from Ecole Polytechnique and ENSAE ParisTech, and a B.A. in Economics from ENS Paris-Saclay. In 2027, he will join Columbia Business School as an Assistant Professor of Economics.
