The Atlantic History Seminar

The first meeting of the International Seminar on the History of the Atlantic World, chaired by Professor Bernard Bailyn, took place at Harvard from September 3 to 11, 1996. The topic of the meeting was “The Movement of People: Mobility and Migration, Recruitment and Resettlement,” and over the past 20 years the seminar has inspired an extraordinary sequence of studies on movement, mobility, and connected histories. The seminar has also itself been a “transnational network,” which was the topic of the 2003 seminar. This website visualizes the Atlantic History Seminar as a social network, 1996-2010.
